We read in the first book of Samuel, chapter xvii., that David smote the giant Goliath with his own sword and slew him, and cut off his head; so Christ, Who rose from the dead, freed men from hell, and saved them from the power of the devil, and weakened the devil himself in his power

 We read in the first book of Judges, chapter xiv., concerning Samson, that when a lion roared sgainst him, be seized the lion and slew him; Samson is a type of Christ, who slew the lion, that is the devil, when He freed men from his power
Psa. cvii. 16 For He hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder Hosea xiii. 14 O Death! I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction." [O Death, I will be thy death, I will be thy bite, O hell]
